Privacy Policy

Last updated: September 16, 2026

mrScribe is built to be a free, safe, and privacy-first speech-to-text experience. This page explains what happens when you use the web app at www.mrscribe.com.

Short version

What we process on your device

When you record or drop an audio/video file, processing happens locally in your browser tab (including a Web Worker). The transcript you see stays in that session unless you choose to copy or save it yourself.

Model download

On first use (or when you pick a different model size), the app downloads open speech recognition model files from Hugging Face so inference can run on your device. After that, your browser can reuse the cached files. That download is model weights — not your recordings.

What we do not collect for transcription

Analytics

The web app uses Firebase Analytics (Google Analytics) to understand basic usage — for example that the site was opened, which screens are used, and rough device/browser information. This helps us keep the product reliable.

Analytics is not used to upload or transcribe your microphone audio, files, or transcripts. Those stay in your browser for on-device processing.

Hosting & logs

The site is hosted on Firebase Hosting / Google infrastructure, which may keep standard technical logs (such as IP address, user agent, and requested URL) for security and reliability. Those logs are not used to transcribe your media.

iOS app

The companion mrScribe iOS app is designed for on-device transcription as described in its App Store listing. This policy focuses on the web app.

Children

The web app is a general-purpose productivity tool. Do not submit personal information from children if you are not permitted to do so under local law.

Contact

Questions about privacy? Start from the App Store listing developer contact options, or open an issue on the project if you received a repository link from us.
